Balochistan Bus Crash Survivor Claims Driver Intentionally Drove Into Ravine

Balochistan Bus Crash Survivor Claims Driver Intentionally Drove Into Ravine

A survivor of the deadly Balochistan bus crash has claimed that the driver intentionally drove the passenger coach into a deep ravine after an argument with passengers. However, authorities have said the allegation has not been confirmed and remains under investigation.

The tragic accident took place on Friday when a passenger bus travelling from Quetta to Peshawar fell more than 70 feet into a gorge in the Dhana Sar area of Sherani district in Balochistan. According to officials, at least 40 people lost their lives, while eight others were injured in the crash.

One of the survivors, Hussain Ahmad, shared his account while receiving treatment at the Zhob Trauma Centre. He claimed that tensions began after security personnel at a checkpoint confiscated extra Iranian diesel that was allegedly being transported on the bus.

According to Hussain Ahmad, the driver became angry after the incident and blamed passengers for the confiscation. He said the argument continued during the journey and created a tense atmosphere inside the vehicle.

The survivor further alleged that the driver deliberately turned the steering wheel, causing the bus to leave the road and plunge into the ravine. He claimed the driver acted out of anger following the dispute with passengers.

Despite these claims, authorities have urged caution and said the survivor’s statement has not yet been verified. Officials said investigators are examining all available evidence before reaching any conclusions about the cause of the crash.

Police and other relevant agencies are continuing their investigation. They are expected to review witness statements, inspect the vehicle, and examine the road conditions before issuing a final report.

Officials also provided new details about the journey. They said the bus originally departed from Quetta with 36 passengers on board. However, more passengers joined the coach after another bus travelling on the same route developed a fault and could not continue its journey.

The additional passengers were transferred to the same bus, increasing the total number of people on board before the accident. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether overcrowding played any role in the tragedy.

The Balochistan bus crash is one of the deadliest road accidents reported in the province in recent years. Rescue teams worked for hours to recover victims from the deep gorge and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Government officials have expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and assured the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out. They said all possible causes, including mechanical failure, driver error, road conditions, and the survivor’s allegations, will be examined.
