Balochistan Closes Iran Border Crossings Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Amid growing security concerns in the region, the Balochistan government has shut down all border crossings with Iran in Gwadar and Panjgur districts, halting both pedestrian movement and fuel transport until further notice.

The move comes as part of precautionary measures following escalating unrest in neighbouring Iran. Officials confirmed that the Gabd-Kalato corridor in Gwadar has been sealed indefinitely, urging citizens to stay informed and coordinate with local authorities.

In Panjgur, district officials also suspended all cross-border movement, including fuel supply routes, citing potential spillover effects from regional instability. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert.

The decision follows the evacuation of 450 Pakistani pilgrims from Iran, with additional efforts underway for others stranded in Iran and Iraq. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to citizen safety.

Tensions have surged after Israel launched a major air offensive on Iran, striking nuclear facilities and killing several high-ranking officials and scientists, sparking fears of broader conflict.
