The Balochistan government has announced a Public Holiday across the province on the occasion of Ashura. The decision was confirmed through an official notification issued by provincial authorities.
According to the notification, all government offices and provincial institutions will remain closed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram. The Public Holiday has been declared to facilitate citizens during the religious observance and to ensure that arrangements for Ashura proceed smoothly.
Officials said the decision reflects the importance of Ashura and the respect attached to the holy days. The closure of government offices is expected to help people participate in religious activities without administrative concerns.
Authorities stated that the Public Holiday will also assist government departments in managing security, traffic, and public services during the observance. Ashura is observed across Pakistan with religious gatherings, processions, and special events that require extensive planning and coordination.
Meanwhile, the federal government had already announced nationwide holidays for Ashura. The Cabinet Division issued a notification confirming that June 25 and June 26 will be observed as public holidays throughout the country.
With both federal and provincial authorities taking steps in advance, officials hope to ensure peaceful observance of the occasion. Security and administrative measures are being reviewed in different parts of the country to support the smooth conduct of religious activities.
Earlier, authorities in Islamabad also introduced precautionary measures ahead of Ashura. A ban on pillion riding was imposed in the federal capital as part of security arrangements. Officials, however, indicated that mobile phone services are expected to remain operational during the observance.
Ashura holds great religious significance for Muslims and is observed every year with devotion and respect. Large numbers of people participate in gatherings and processions held in various cities and towns. Government agencies typically implement special arrangements to maintain public safety and manage traffic flow.
Officials said the latest Public Holiday announcement in Balochistan is intended to support these efforts and provide convenience to citizens observing the holy days. Residents have been advised to stay informed about local traffic plans and follow official instructions during Ashura.
