Sariab-Kuchlak Railway Project in Balochistan has been completed at a cost of Rs. 3 billion.
The project was completed within 120 days through cooperation between Pakistan Railways and the Balochistan government.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced the completion in a post on X.
He said the development would mark a new chapter for railway travel and connectivity in Balochistan.
The project focused on upgrading railway tracks, stations, and passenger facilities along the route.
32 Kilometers of Railway Track Upgraded
A major part of the Railway Project involved improving the track between Sariab and Kuchlak.
Around 32 kilometers of railway track were upgraded and rehabilitated under the project.
Work was also completed to strengthen railway track embankments. These improvements are intended to protect and support railway infrastructure.
New turntables were also constructed at Sariab and Kuchlak railway stations.
The turntables have been installed and commissioned as part of the completed infrastructure work.
Railway Stations Receive New Facilities
Several railway stations were upgraded during the 120-day development programme.
Sariab Railway Station received improvements designed to provide better facilities for passengers.
Modern facilities were also introduced at Kuchlak Railway Station.
Sheikh Mandah Railway Station was upgraded under the project. Construction and improvement work was also completed at Beleli Railway Station.
G.O.R Halt Railway Station was reconstructed as part of the development work.
Solarization and electrical work were completed at the station. New furniture and benches were also installed for passengers.
Quetta Railway Station Also Upgraded
The development programme was not limited to the Sariab-Kuchlak section.
Quetta Railway Station also received upgrades under the initiative.
Construction and finishing work was carried out at Lori Kraz Halt Railway Station.
These improvements form part of broader efforts to improve railway infrastructure and passenger facilities across Balochistan.
Jinnah Peoples Train to Operate on Upgraded Route
Hanif Abbasi said the Jinnah Peoples Train would soon begin operating on the newly upgraded route.
The service is expected to provide improved travel facilities and better connectivity for people across Balochistan.
The completed Railway Project represents an investment of Rs. 3 billion in the province’s railway infrastructure.
According to the minister, Pakistan Railways will continue working to restore and modernize railway infrastructure across Balochistan.
The latest improvements are expected to strengthen rail connectivity while providing upgraded facilities at several stations.
