Mobile Internet, Transport Services Suspended Across Balochistan Amid Security Threats

The Balochistan government has suspended mobile internet services across all 36 districts, citing a high-level security threat. The unexpected move has disconnected hundreds of thousands of users across the province.

According to an official statement from the Home Department, the internet blackout will remain in place until November 16. Authorities said the decision was made after intelligence agencies warned of possible unrest and security challenges in various areas.

Although Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, was officially exempted from the ban, residents reported weak or no internet signals in many parts of the city. Users across several districts have faced major disruptions in communication, business, and online education.

In addition to the digital shutdown, the Balochistan government has also suspended all transport services, including taxis, buses, and private vehicles, along the Loralai section of National Highway N-70. The restrictions will stay in effect until November 14. The route, which serves as a vital link between southern and northern Balochistan, has been completely halted, affecting trade and daily travel.

Officials have described these measures as temporary but necessary to maintain law and order. The transport ban does not apply to intra-city travel, allowing residents to move within their districts for essential needs.

District administrations, police, and security agencies have been directed to enforce the orders strictly. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated through official announcements.

Meanwhile, all educational institutions in Quettaโ€™s cantonment area have been closed from November 12 to 16 as a precaution. Authorities say the decision was made to ensure public safety amid fears of potential unrest.
