Lahore’s Rs6 Billion Basant 2026: The Secrets Behind the Boom

Lahore’s Rs6 Billion Basant 2026 The Secrets Behind the Boom

Lahore experienced a significant boost in economic activity during Basant 2026, with total business estimated between Rs4-6 billion. Residents of the city, along with visitors from other parts of Pakistan and some foreigners, participated in the celebrations. Spending included kites, strings, food, beverages, and travel expenses. Reports indicate that kite and string sales alone contributed around Rs2 billion.

The festival brought unexpected growth to several industries. Barbecue parties drove poultry sales to record levels, while fast food outlets and sweet shops earned substantial profits. The influx of visitors also increased demand in the transportation sector, as Lahore became the center of Basant celebrations. People from all walks of life joined the festivities, adding color and energy to the city.

However, after the three-day celebrations, kite flying is now strictly banned in Lahore. CCPO Bilal Siddiq Kamiyana issued a stern warning, stating that violations of the Kite Flying Act will face strict action. Police officers have been instructed to conduct continuous field checks and crack down on illegal kite and string sales.

Shopkeepers were also warned that any involvement in selling or transferring illegal kites and strings will be treated as a punishable offense. Authorities emphasized that illegal kite flying is dangerous and can threaten lives. Parents were specifically urged to closely supervise their children and ensure full compliance with the law.

These measures aim to ensure public safety and strengthen security in Lahore, even as the memories of Basant 2026 celebrations linger in the city. Officials hope that strict monitoring and preventive measures will allow citizens to enjoy cultural events safely in the future.
