Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani has strongly criticized recent remarks made by Noreen Niazi, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. He described her comments as highly regrettable and shameful, saying they reflected a mindset that had repeatedly worked against Pakistan’s defense, diplomacy, and economy for political purposes.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Kayani said Noreen Niazi’s statement about Pakistan’s victory in Marka-e-Haq was unacceptable. He questioned whether any patriotic Pakistani could support such remarks.
Kayani said the comments had raised serious concerns and asked whether they could be justified under any circumstances. He added that while he did not want to label anyone as anti-state, the public should decide whether such statements served Pakistan’s national interests.
The minister linked the controversy to what he described as a long-standing pattern within the PTI leadership over the past decade. He referred to the May 9 incidents involving attacks on military installations and martyrs’ memorials. He also mentioned the public display of the cipher and allegations that letters were written to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in an attempt to create economic pressure on Pakistan.
According to Kayani, these actions reflected a consistent approach aimed at putting Pakistan’s national interests at risk for political objectives. He claimed the ultimate goal had been to secure the release of Imran Khan and return him to power.
Discussing Marka-e-Haq, Kayani praised the Pakistan Air Force and the country’s armed forces. He said their courage and professionalism deserved appreciation rather than criticism. He questioned what message such remarks would send to the pilots who, according to him, successfully responded to Indian aircraft during the conflict.
The minister also spoke emotionally about the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s soldiers. He said he belonged to Jhelum, a district known for producing many military personnel. He noted that the graves of martyrs in the area are proudly covered with the national flag, reflecting the nation’s respect for those who sacrificed their lives.
Kayani further said that no clarification or apology had been issued after the controversial remarks. According to him, the absence of any explanation suggested that the statement represented the speaker’s actual views rather than a misunderstanding.
He confirmed that legal action had already been initiated regarding the remarks. The minister stressed that narratives undermining Pakistan’s security institutions had no place in any democratic society or state.
Referring again to Marka-e-Haq, Kayani said Pakistan had achieved victory and responded effectively to Indian aggression. He added that while the country celebrated the success, some individuals appeared unwilling to accept the outcome.

Concluding his remarks, the minister said criticism directed at the armed forces in such a manner was deeply concerning. He maintained that the strongest possible condemnation was necessary and said the ongoing legal proceedings were both justified and appropriate under the circumstances.
