BISP Payment Update: New Digital Wallet System Introduced for Beneficiaries

BISP Payment Update New Digital Wallet System Introduced for Beneficiaries

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has announced a major change in its payment system for beneficiaries across Pakistan. The government is now introducing digital wallets to replace the old method of collecting financial aid through payment centres and ATM cards.

Under the current system, registered families receive support through BISP campsites, payment centres, and designated ATM services. However, officials confirmed that this traditional mechanism is being gradually phased out as Pakistan moves toward a more digital and cashless economy.

According to officials, the new payment model will transfer funds directly into digital wallet accounts created for beneficiaries. These wallets will operate through specially issued Benazir mobile SIMs. The aim is to make payments faster, safer, and more transparent for low-income families receiving financial support.

Authorities said the upcoming installment under the Benazir Kafalat Programme will be distributed only through these digital wallets. Beneficiaries will no longer need to stand in long queues at payment centres or visit ATMs to withdraw money.

The decision was reportedly taken in line with the directions of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Officials believe the updated system will improve welfare delivery and reduce delays in payment distribution.

BISP authorities have advised all registered beneficiaries to complete their SIM registration process as soon as possible. Those who have not yet received the free Benazir mobile SIM are instructed to visit their nearest BISP office with their personal mobile phone.

Officials also announced an important deadline for the registration process. Beneficiaries must obtain their Benazir SIM before June 15 to avoid problems during the transition to the new system.

The new digital payment framework is being described as a major step toward financial inclusion in Pakistan. Authorities say it will also improve transparency and reduce issues linked to cash handling and manual verification.
