The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially doubled the fares for electric buses in Islamabad, increasing the rates from Rs50 to Rs100 across the Orange, Green, and Blue lines starting Sunday. The fare hike was introduced due to administrative and financial reasons, affecting around 90,000 daily passengers.
In response, the CDA is preparing a new concession policy that will offer discounted fare packages for office workers, students, and senior citizens. These packages will be available for daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly travelers, including those using bus cards. Details of the proposed concessions are expected to be announced soon.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa has also instructed authorities to ensure that comprehensive schedules, including bus arrival and departure times, are made accessible on Google Maps. This initiative aims to enhance commuter convenience and help residents better plan their journeys.
The fare adjustment and forthcoming concessions mark a significant change in Islamabad’s public transport system, balancing financial sustainability with commuter needs.
