LAHORE: China’s G-Force Group has signed a joint venture agreement with a Pakistani company to expand electric vehicle manufacturing in Punjab.

The agreement focuses on establishing new facilities for electric motorcycles, batteries, and electric vehicle charging stations.

The project aims to attract foreign investment, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Pakistan’s growing electric vehicle industry.

Under the agreement, the local company will establish an Electric Bike manufacturing plant at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura.

Meanwhile, China’s G-Force Group will develop a separate facility for manufacturing electric vehicle batteries and charging stations in Punjab.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony at PISC House on Davis Road in Lahore.

Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain attended the signing ceremony.

G-Force Group China Director Zhang Rui and local company Chairman Dr Muhammad Amjad formally signed the agreement.

Speaking at the event, Shafay Hussain highlighted the provincial government’s efforts to promote electric vehicle production.

He said the Punjab government was working under the chief minister’s leadership to expand the electric vehicle industry.

According to the minister, several electric two-wheeler manufacturing plants are already operating across the province.

He added that more Pakistani and international companies were establishing production facilities to meet growing market demand.

The minister expressed confidence that electric motorcycles could gradually replace conventional petrol-powered bikes in the coming years.

He said the transition toward electric vehicles could help reduce environmental pollution and improve urban living conditions.

Electric motorcycles produce no direct exhaust emissions, making them an alternative to traditional petrol-powered transportation.

They also generally produce less operating noise than conventional motorcycles.

However, their overall environmental benefits depend on electricity generation, battery production, and recycling practices.

The new Electric Bike manufacturing project could support Pakistan’s efforts to increase locally produced electric vehicles.

Local manufacturing may also create opportunities for suppliers, technicians, engineers, and other workers in related industries.

Shafay Hussain also discussed investment opportunities available in Punjab’s special economic zones. He encouraged Chinese businesses to explore new manufacturing projects in the province.

The minister particularly highlighted opportunities in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and battery production.

Charging stations are an important part of the infrastructure required to support wider electric vehicle adoption. Expanding charging facilities could make electric transportation more practical for consumers and businesses.

Battery manufacturing is another important component of the electric vehicle supply chain. The planned facilities could help strengthen local production capabilities and support future industry development.

The minister said the joint venture would bring additional investment into Punjab’s industrial sector.

He also expected the project to create new employment opportunities for residents.

However, the companies have not announced the project’s total investment value or expected number of jobs.

Details regarding production capacity, construction schedules, and commercial operations were also not provided. The agreement represents another step toward expanding cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese businesses.

Shafay Hussain said increasing Chinese investment was strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

He highlighted the importance of industrial partnerships in supporting manufacturing growth and economic development.

The planned Electric Bike and battery facilities could contribute to the expansion of Pakistan’s electric vehicle market. However, the project’s success will depend on implementation, infrastructure development, and commercial demand.

The joint venture is expected to support local manufacturing while creating opportunities for further investment in Punjab.
