CM Maryam Urges Youth to Support Life-Saving Blood Donation Drive

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in blood donation efforts, highlighting the life-saving potential of every drop donated during emergencies.

In a public appeal, the chief minister stressed that timely blood donations can offer a vital lifeline to patients in critical condition. She also announced the launch of Pakistan’s first Virtual Blood Bank Centre in Punjab, marking a major step forward in the province’s healthcare digitisation.

The Virtual Blood Bank operates via Emergency Helpline 15, where patients can request blood instantly. Safe City Authority officers coordinate the request by collecting details about the patient’s location and blood type, then connecting with registered donors through conference calls. Police support is also included in the process to ensure efficient coordination.

Donors can register through Helpline 15, the Safe City Authority’s website, or at Police Khidmat counters in government hospitals across Punjab. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce delays in emergency blood transfusions.
