Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed officials to fast-track the completion of three major infrastructure projects in Karachi: the Karimabad Underpass, Korangi Causeway, and Malir Expressway. These projects were discussed in a progress review meeting chaired by CM Shah, which was attended by key government officials including Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and other project directors.
CM Shah emphasized the importance of these critical projects and personally visits the sites for progress updates. The Karimabad Underpass, which spans 1,080 meters and is being built at a cost of Rs3.8 million, has seen 30% of its construction completed. The project, part of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) scheme, is expected to ease traffic flow, with a roundabout being constructed at Meena Bazaar and Bazaar Faisal.
The Korangi Causeway Bridge, with a Rs6.4 billion budget, is 30% complete. This 1,385-meter bridge will include loops and ramps stretching 2.5 kilometers. Of the 600 girders required, 504 have been installed, and the Chief Minister has urged acceleration of its construction.
Progress on the Malir Expressway, which stretches 38.889 kilometers from Jam Sadiq Bridge to Shah Faisal, is also on track. The Chief Minister has set a target for Phase One to be completed by December 25, 2024, and has directed the Mayor of Karachi to improve roads from Shah Faisal to the airport.
These infrastructure projects are central to Karachi’s development, and CM Shah is closely monitoring their progress to ensure timely completion.
