GUJRAT – The local administration has announced a three-day closure of all public and private colleges in Gujrat amid student protests over an alleged rape incident at a college in Lahore.
The deputy commissioner issued a notification declaring the closure of all male and female colleges in the district from October 17 to 19, citing administrative concerns due to the protests. The notification has been circulating widely on social media, though its authenticity remains unconfirmed.

The protests, which started in Lahore, spread to other cities following allegations that a female student was raped by a security guard. However, the girl’s family, the police, and the Punjab government have denied the occurrence of such an incident, insisting that no such event took place at any Lahore college.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of spreading the story to create unrest following their failed protests. She emphasized that the alleged victim was not at the college during the supposed event, calling the claims false and attributing them to a misleading social media campaign.
