An Islamabad court grants bail to former senator Mushtaq Ahmed and several other accused. The decision relates to a case linked to a protest in F-10.
The court approved the bail pleas against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each. Former senator Mushtaq Ahmed was among those who received relief.
Razi Tahir, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai and Danial were also granted bail. Several other accused in the case received similar relief from the court.
The case was registered at Shalimar Police Station after the protest. Police included anti-terrorism provisions and other relevant sections in the case.
Police Allegations in the Case
According to the FIR, around 400 to 500 people joined the demonstration. Police alleged that protesters pressured shopkeepers to shut their businesses.
The FIR also contains allegations of vandalism during the protest. Police claimed that protesters attacked a media vehicle and damaged it.
Law enforcement officials reportedly asked the protesters to disperse several times. However, police alleged that the demonstrators refused to leave the area.
The FIR further states that protesters resisted police officials during the incident. Police also alleged that government vehicles were damaged.
According to the police account, protesters threw stones at law enforcement personnel. Several police officers reportedly suffered injuries during the clashes.
Anti-Terrorism Charges Included
Shalimar Police registered the case against Mushtaq Ahmed, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, Danial and others.
The FIR includes provisions under anti-terrorism laws. It also cites sections of the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act.
The inclusion of these provisions reflects the nature of the allegations recorded by police. The accused, however, have now secured bail from the court.
The court grants bail against relatively low surety bonds of Rs5,000 each. The order allows the accused to remain out of custody during further legal proceedings.
Investigation Continues
Islamabad Police are currently investigating the case. Investigators are examining the events surrounding the F-10 demonstration.
The investigation will determine the circumstances behind the alleged violence and property damage. Authorities will also assess the allegations included in the FIR.
