A Customs officer was killed in a violent attack by armed militants along the CPEC route, police confirmed. The assailants also targeted Yarik Police Station.
Customs official Israr Khan and Police constable Muhammad Bilal were martyred in the attack. Two other security personnel, Hazrat Umar and Khayal Muhammad, were injured and shifted to DHQ Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.
During the assault, militants set a customs vehicle on fire and opened fire on passenger buses, causing panic in the area. Police responded to the attack, but the gunmen managed to escape.
A heavy police contingent reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation. Authorities said further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the attackers.

In a separate incident, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed eight armed militants in Quettaโs Darakhshan area. The militants belonged to a banned outfit. Three CTD personnel were injured during the exchange of fire, and weapons and ammunition were recovered.
