Rawalpindi has reported another Dengue case, bringing the city’s total to seven during the current season.

The latest patient is a resident of Dhama Syedan. The patient was taken to Holy Family Hospital for medical care. The patient was later admitted to the hospital’s dengue ward.

Earlier, another case was reported from the Asghar Mall Scheme on September 9.

District Health Officer Preventive Dr. Jawad Zahid shared details about the cases recorded this year. He said two cases have been reported during September.

Four cases were detected in July, while one case was recorded in March.

Despite the latest infection, health officials say the situation remains under control. Rawalpindi reported 582 cases last year. In comparison, only seven have been recorded so far this year.

Anti-Dengue Operations Intensified in Rawalpindi

Authorities have stepped up Dengue prevention activities across Rawalpindi. Around 1,400 teams have been deployed for indoor and outdoor surveillance.

Health teams are checking residential areas and open spaces for mosquito breeding sites.

According to Dr. Zahid, high levels of larvae have been detected in several areas. These include Misrial Road, Afshan Colony, and Allama Iqbal Colony in Rawalpindi Cantonment.

Larvae have also been found in Naseerabad, Morgah, Dhama Syedan, Pirwadhai, and Dhamyal.

Other affected locations include Hazara Colony, Pindora, Dhoke Mangtal, Dhoke Ratta, and Chak Jalaldin.

Officials have detected and destroyed larvae at more than 145,572 locations. These breeding sites were identified inside homes and in outdoor areas.

Thousands of FIRs Registered Over SOP Violations

Authorities are also taking action against violations of anti-dengue standard operating procedures.

So far, 2,543 FIRs have been registered against violations. Authorities have also sealed 652 buildings and issued 2,119 challans.

Fines worth Rs. 2.568 million have also been imposed on violators.

The number of field workers has been increased to strengthen prevention efforts. Officials believe identifying more breeding sites can help reduce the risk of further infections.

Residents have been advised to regularly clean their homes and rooftops. They should also remove stagnant water from containers and other places.

Standing water can provide breeding conditions for mosquitoes. Officials have urged residents to cooperate with surveillance teams and follow preventive measures.

Health authorities continue to monitor the Dengue situation across Rawalpindi as surveillance and prevention activities remain underway.
