Another ‘Millionaire’ Domestic Worker Arrested in Karachi’s Clifton

Karachi police have arrested a domestic worker accused of stealing millions of rupees and valuables from his employer’s house in the upscale Clifton area. The suspect, identified as Wajid Ali, had been employed at the residence for nearly eight years.

According to the Sahil police, gold jewellery and Rs227,000 in cash were recovered from the domestic worker’s possession. The case came to light after the employer lodged a complaint, claiming that money and valuables had been missing over a long period.

The First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the suspect had been stealing gradually for several years. During interrogation, Wajid Ali confessed to the thefts and admitted to transferring funds using the family’s ATM cards and cheque book without authorization.

Police officials stated that Wajid used the stolen money to purchase property and vehicles worth millions of rupees. A spokesperson for the District South police said that the suspect had also transferred money into multiple bank accounts to conceal his activities.

The domestic worker has now been handed over to the investigation police for further inquiry. Authorities are tracing the assets purchased through the stolen funds and examining whether others were involved in the theft.

This incident has raised serious concerns about household security and the background verification of domestic staff in Karachi. It also highlights a growing pattern of trust exploitation, as a similar case was reported a few months ago in Clifton.

In that earlier case, another domestic worker, identified as Shehnaz, was arrested after accumulating massive wealth through theft. She was found to own multiple vehicles, apartments, and shops, all allegedly bought with stolen money.
