A strong earthquake rattled several cities across Pakistan late Friday night, sending waves of panic among residents as tremors were widely felt in different regions.
The shaking was reported in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and multiple northern districts including Chitral, Swat, Dir, and Malakand, where people rushed outdoors for safety.
Despite the intensity of the tremors, authorities confirmed that no immediate casualties or major structural damage had been reported as emergency teams continued monitoring the situation.
District administrations across affected areas were placed on high alert, while rescue and response units remained ready to handle any emergency developments or potential aftershocks.
Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said seismic experts say that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.2
Pakistan lies within an active seismic belt near the Himalayan fault line, making earthquakes relatively common, as experts continue observing seismic activity for possible aftershocks.
