Eid Sacrifices Turn Tragic Amid Safety Concerns Across Pakistan

A young man lost his life and over 140 others were injured in animal-related incidents during Eidul Azha sacrifices across Pakistan, underscoring the risks associated with handling livestock during the religious ritual.

In a heartbreaking event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi district, a youth was fatally kicked in the chest by a cow during the slaughtering process in the village of Maini Loya Lar. The accident occurred as the animal was being tied with ropes, leading to the young man’s immediate death. The tragedy has left the local community in deep mourning.

Meanwhile, Punjab reported at least 144 injuries linked to similar incidents. Rescue 1122 confirmed that 33 of the injured individuals required hospital admission, while the remaining 111 were treated on site or released after receiving basic medical aid. Cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad saw the highest number of such accidents.

Officials have urged the public to take greater care while performing sacrifices, emphasizing the importance of experienced handlers and secure setups to avoid further harm during the festival.
