During the ongoing Eid-ul-Adha festivities, more than 1.1 million sacrificial animals have been sold across 292 livestock markets throughout Punjab, according to data released by the provincial Local Government Department.
The figures encompass all nine administrative divisions of the province and highlight the thriving market for Eid animals. In total, over 1.5 million animals were brought to these markets across Punjab.

Lahore topped the list with the highest sales, recording 665,000 animals sold—comprising 443,000 small animals like goats and sheep, and 222,000 larger animals such as cows and bulls.
Faisalabad saw 112,000 animals brought to market, with 88,000 sold, while Bahawalpur Division also experienced strong sales, with over 100,000 animals sold.
DG Khan reported more moderate sales, with 38,000 small and 30,000 large animals sold.
In Rawalpindi, 84,000 animals entered the markets, with 46,000 sold. Sahiwal recorded 47,000 sales, and Sargodha reported an impressive 94,000 animals sold.
Gujranwala saw about 10,000 animals traded, and Multan had around 16,000 animals bought and sold.
Officials from the Local Government Department praised the overall organization of the livestock markets, noting that enhanced facilities and better management contributed to the smooth running of buying and selling activities across the province.
