SARGODHA: The teenage son of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) MNA Erum Hamid has been arrested following a tragic road accident that claimed the life of a child in Sargodha. The incident has sparked widespread media attention due to the political background of the family involved.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was being driven by Ahmad Hamid, the 16–17-year-old son of Erum Hamid. Eyewitnesses said the car was traveling at high speed when it first struck a motorcycle, severely injuring the rider, and then hit another two-wheeler, resulting in the instant death of a man named Arshad.
Several people were injured in the accident, including Ahmad’s sister Khadija, his grandfather Ghulam Muhammad, aunt Shagufta Bibi, and another unidentified motorcyclist. All the injured were quickly shifted to the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
In a statement, Erum Hamid confirmed that she had handed her son over to the authorities, emphasizing that legal proceedings should follow according to the law. She said no one is above the law and assured full cooperation with the investigation.
Police officials from Cantt Station have seized the vehicle involved and launched a formal inquiry into the incident. Authorities have pledged that strict legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
The accident has prompted a debate on road safety and accountability, especially involving young and underage drivers. Local officials have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed fairly and transparently.
