A man killed his ex-wife in Karachi’s Quaidabad area for demanding Haq Mehar, which is a mandatory gift or token given by the husband at the time of marriage. According to the police, Fatima’s body was initially found in a way that made it appear as though she had committed suicide. However, further investigation revealed that she was murdered by her former husband, Nauman, for asking for her rightful Haq Mehar.
The police reported that Nauman strangled Fatima using a cloth. He later confessed to the crime after being taken into custody. His motive for the murder was her persistent demand for the Haq Mehar, which he refused to provide.

The case was registered at the Quaidabad police station based on a complaint filed by Fatima’s sister. The investigation quickly led to Nauman’s arrest, where he admitted to the murder during interrogation.
Additionally, Nauman’s father and sister have also been implicated in the case. The police noted that after the divorce, Fatima had repeatedly asked Nauman for two tolas of gold and some of her dowry, in addition to the Haq Mehar, which escalated tensions and eventually led to the tragic incident.
