Former Indian Congress Minister Saifuddin Soz has publicly challenged India’s claims regarding blocking Pakistan’s water supply, adding a new layer to the escalating tensions between the two neighbors. His remarks follow Pakistan’s accusation that India orchestrated a “false flag operation” in Pahalgam.
Soz underlined the critical importance of water for Pakistan’s agriculture and drinking needs, cautioning that any attempt to divert water could trigger catastrophic consequences. “If attempts are made to divert Pakistan’s water, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir will be completely submerged,” he warned, underscoring the risks of tampering with cross-border water flows.

He further stressed that violating the Sindh Taas Water Agreement could spark open war between the two nuclear-armed nations, emphasizing that the international community is watching the situation closely. Soz also backed Pakistan’s stance that it had no involvement in the Pahalgam attack, labeling it a conspiracy by India’s Modi government.
His comments sharply contradict official Indian narratives and spotlight the potential dangers of water disputes intensifying the already fragile relationship between India and Pakistan.
