KARACHI โ A 50-year-old man was shot dead at his home in Sharafi Goth on Thursday while resisting a robbery, police reported.
According to authorities, three armed men broke into the victimโs house intending to steal valuables. The victim, identified as Shahid, tried to stop the intruders, prompting them to open fire. Shahid, who worked for a private pharmaceutical company, died instantly. He was the father of three daughters and the familyโs sole breadwinner.
Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures. A police official said that evidence was collected from the scene and efforts are ongoing to retrieve CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects.
Shahidโs relative, Muhammad Umair, described the tragic incident. โAround 12:30 p.m., three armed robbers entered the house. Shahid tried to get his daughters out safely. The robbers opened fire and fled,โ he said. He added that Shahid was a humble man with no known enemies.
The grieving family has called on senior police officials to act swiftly and arrest the perpetrators. They stressed the need for justice to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
This incident has added to a growing trend of fatal robberies in Karachi. With Shahidโs death, 79 citizens have been shot dead during robberies in the city so far this year, highlighting ongoing concerns over public safety and law enforcement effectiveness.
