RAWALPINDI: The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has officially appreciated the Rawalpindi Police for their exceptional investigation in the high-profile murder case of American national Wajiha Swati.
In a meeting at Police Lines Headquarters, a U.S. delegation — including FBI Legal Attaché Chris Watkins, Assistant Legal Attaché Maxi Million, and Muhammad Naveed — presented a letter of appreciation to City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani.
The FBI delegation praised the Rawalpindi Police for their thorough investigation and successful prosecution, which led to the conviction of Wajiha Swati’s murderer, her ex-husband Rizwan Habib. Watkins also acknowledged the effective security provided by police teams during court proceedings.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to key officers including Inspectors Sajjad-ul-Hassan and Aslam Shahzad, Sub-Inspector Shabbir Hussain, ASI Shahzad Ali, Head Constable Muhammad Rehan, and Constable Muhammad Zohaib. Prosecutors honored included Mian Imran Rahim, Iffat Sultana, Amina Ashraf, and Zeigham Abbas.
CPO Hamdani expressed pride over the recognition and stated it reflects the professionalism and dedication of the Rawalpindi Police and prosecution teams.
Wajiha Swati was murdered on October 16, 2021. Her ex-husband, Rizwan Habib, was sentenced to death earlier this year after it was revealed he lured her to Pakistan under false pretenses over a property dispute and then killed her. His domestic worker Sultan was sentenced to seven years for assisting in the crime, while Habib’s father, also involved, passed away during the trial.
