FBR Seizes Goods Worth Rs 481 Million In October Anti-Smuggling Drive

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized smuggled goods worth Rs. 481.949 million during the first 17 days of October, showing strong progress in its ongoing anti-smuggling campaign.

According to an official statement, the operations were carried out by the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Multan, under the FBRโ€™s nationwide drive to curb illegal trade. Officials said the latest seizures reflect continued efficiency, vigilance, and commitment to protecting the countryโ€™s revenue base.

In one of the major operations, customs officers intercepted a Mazda truck near Ghala Mandi, Multan. The vehicle was found carrying foreign-origin goods, including betel nuts and cigarettes, concealed under crushed animal bones. The department also conducted a follow-up raid at a nearby warehouse in the industrial area, where more smuggled goods worth Rs. 14.890 million were recovered.

In another successful operation, a Hino truck was stopped at JCP Sakhi Sarwar. The truck appeared to be carrying fresh apples, but a detailed inspection revealed 104 imported inverters hidden beneath the fruit baskets. These were valued at Rs. 13.200 million.

During a separate routine check at JCP Trimman, officers discovered a smuggled Kawasaki Ninja heavy bike concealed inside a passenger bus traveling from Dera Ismail Khan to Karachi. The seized motorbike was valued at Rs. 2.200 million.

Officials highlighted that such consistent operations demonstrate the FBRโ€™s determination to fight smuggling, prevent tax evasion, and strengthen Pakistanโ€™s formal economy. The Multan enforcement team continues to play a key role in ensuring compliance with customs laws and safeguarding national interests.

The FBR reaffirmed that its anti-smuggling campaign will continue across all regions, with special focus on intercepting high-value goods and disrupting organized smuggling networks.
