On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) held a hearing on a petition related to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s health and possible return to Pakistan.
During the session, government representatives told the court that they had chosen not to participate in or support the legal case currently underway in the United States concerning Dr. Siddiqui.

The Additional Attorney General informed the court of this decision. However, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan questioned the reasoning behind it, stating that neither the government nor the Attorney General has the authority to make such decisions without a clear explanation.
“This is a constitutional court,” the judge said. “You can’t just announce a decision without providing justification.”
The court then instructed the government to submit a detailed explanation for its decision not to get involved in the U.S. case at the next hearing, which is set for July 4.
