FIA Highlights Students Rising Cybercrime At Awareness Session in Lahore

Officials have raised concerns about rising cybercrime during a recent awareness session in Lahore. The event was held at the National Institute of Technology Lahore to educate students and faculty about digital threats.

The session was led by Federal Investigation Agency Lahore Director Capt (R) Muhammad Ali Zia. He said lack of awareness is a major reason behind white-collar crimes. He warned that even small mistakes can lead to serious financial loss.

He explained that criminals often use simple tricks to gain trust. These include fake messages, emails, and online offers. Such tactics are driving rising cybercrime across the country.

During the session, participants were informed about common fraud methods. These include phishing emails, fake investment schemes, and identity theft. Officials said these crimes are increasing due to more online activity.

Capt Zia advised students to stay alert while using digital platforms. He said personal and financial information should never be shared with unknown sources. He stressed that verifying information is important to avoid fraud.

The issue of rising cybercrime is becoming more serious as technology use grows. Experts believe young people are more exposed to these risks. This makes awareness sessions even more important.

The FIA director also spoke about the agencyโ€™s efforts to tackle cybercrime. He said new tools and improved systems are being used to handle complex cases. However, he added that public cooperation is necessary.

Students were encouraged to report suspicious activities quickly. Officials recommended using official FIA channels for complaints. Timely reporting can help prevent further damage.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed the talk. Students asked about safety measures and reporting procedures. Officials provided guidance on how to stay safe online.

The institute, which focuses on modern education, aims to promote practical learning. It has also partnered with Arizona State University to improve academic standards.

Authorities said similar sessions will continue in other institutions. The goal is to reduce risks linked to rising cybercrime and improve public awareness.

Overall, the session highlighted the urgent need for digital safety education. Officials believe informed users can play a key role in reducing cyber threats.
