Fire in Ghariyali Building in Saddar Rescues Five, No Casualties Reported

A fire that broke out in the Ghariyali Building near Empress Market, Saddar, has been successfully brought under control, with five people safely rescued from the affected premises. The blaze started on the third floor and quickly spread to parts of the fourth and fifth floors.

Upon receiving the alarm, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) dispatched a fire tender from the Saddar Fire Station. The fire’s rapid spread led to the deployment of four additional fire tenders, a bowser, and a snorkel, significantly boosting firefighting efforts. The fire was brought under control in about an hour and a half, and the cooling process followed immediately afterward. No casualties were reported.

In response to the emergency, a large number of ambulances, police, and Rangers were deployed to the scene. One lane of the Empress Market road was temporarily closed to facilitate the operation. The affected areas were primarily garment warehouses, but the financial damage has not yet been estimated. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This incident comes amid a rise in fire-related emergencies, especially during the winter months. The KMC Fire Brigade remains vigilant, ensuring prompt responses to such emergencies. This was the latest in a series of fire incidents in Karachi, including recent fires at Pak Towers and Rimpa Plaza, where no casualties were reported despite significant damage.
