The first snowfall of the season has covered parts of Gilgit Baltistan, bringing cold and frosty weather to the mountainous region. Several districts, including Diamer and Chilas, were blanketed with snow, creating a white landscape across the valleys.
Reports confirm that Babusar Top has already received up to six inches of snowfall. Surrounding areas such as Saif ul Malook Lake, Batta Kundi, Jelkhad, Besar, Koh-e-Safaid, and Noori Top also witnessed fresh snow. The sudden weather shift has dropped temperatures significantly, marking the arrival of early winter.
Kaghan Valley in Mansehra district also experienced its first snowfall of the season, with mercury falling quickly. Similarly, Kalam reported snowfall, which further intensified the cold conditions in the region.
Babusar Top, situated at an altitude of 13,700 feet above sea level, is a well-known tourist destination. Each year, heavy snow forces the closure of Babusar Top and Babusar Pass from November to June. Tourists visiting Gilgit Baltistan often travel through Babusar Pass to enjoy the scenic views and chilly weather. The recent snowfall has enhanced the beauty of the area, attracting interest from nature lovers.
Local residents noted that the snowfall is earlier than usual, which may impact travel routes in the coming weeks. Authorities are expected to monitor road conditions closely as winter progresses. Despite the challenges, the snow-covered peaks and valleys are likely to draw more tourists to Gilgit Baltistan during the season.
The arrival of snow signals the beginning of long, cold months ahead for locals, but it also marks the start of a peak tourism period. With its stunning landscapes now covered in white, Gilgit Baltistan continues to be one of the countryβs most popular destinations for winter travel.
