The first snowfall of the winter season has hit Quetta and northern Balochistan, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures. Snowfall continues in Chaman and nearby areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, Chaman recorded temperatures below freezing, dropping to minus 1 degrees Celsius. Khojak Top and Khwaja Imran saw minus 3 degrees, while Toba Achakzai experienced minus 4 degrees Celsius.
Snow accumulation reached one and a half feet in Toba Achakzai, one foot in Khojak Top, and about ten inches in Chaman. The ongoing snowfall is making travel and daily life challenging in the affected areas.
Snowfall was reported in several other regions, including Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, Jangal Pir Alizai, Shela Bagh, and Mezai Adda. Intermittent snowfall and rain have also affected Kan Mehtarzai and Muslim Bagh.
In Qila Saifullah city and surrounding areas, rain mixed with snowfall has intensified the cold. Meteorological officials predict that rain and snow will continue there until the evening.
Meanwhile, Mastung experienced its first snowfall of the winter, covering the city in a white blanket. Residents reported noticeably colder weather, with streets and rooftops covered in snow.
Rainfall in Kharan, Panjgur, and nearby areas has also contributed to falling temperatures, although these regions have not yet seen significant snow accumulation.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents in northern Balochistan to take precautions against extreme cold. Officials warned that the low temperatures could affect roads, electricity, and daily routines.
With the first snowfall of the season, winter conditions are expected to intensify in coming weeks. Authorities have advised travelers to remain cautious on snow-affected roads.
The snowfall marks the beginning of winter in Balochistan, offering picturesque views but also raising concerns about cold-related difficulties for residents.
