Heavy Rain Triggers Flash Floods Across Gilgit-Baltistan

Heavy rain and cloudbursts have triggered Flash Floods in several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The flooding has disrupted daily life and damaged homes, agricultural land, crops, and orchards. Several important roads have also been affected.

Heavy rainfall caused flooding in different areas of Ghizer early Saturday. Floodwater entered vulnerable areas and caused damage to local properties.

Several houses were affected by the flooding. Crops and agricultural land also suffered damage in different locations.

Naubahar Village Among Worst-Hit Areas

Naubahar village was among the areas most affected by the latest weather conditions.

Floodwater damaged the Gushgush Jamaat Khana in the village. Agricultural losses were also reported following the flooding.

Crops, fruit trees, and farmland were damaged as water moved through the affected areas.

The Flash Floods also disrupted road connections in the region. The road between Immit and Barjangle was blocked following the flooding.

Electricity transmission lines were also damaged, adding to difficulties faced by local residents.

Residents have called on authorities to take urgent action and restore the blocked road.

Landslides Block Karakoram Highway

The severe weather also affected travel on the Karakoram Highway.

The KKH was closed between Sost and Khunjerab Top because of landslides. Authorities started work to clear the affected route.

Another section of the highway in Hunza also faced disruption.

The KKH section between Murtazaabad and Hassanabad was blocked following landslides. Authorities later cleared the route and reopened it for traffic.

Weather-related road closures can create difficulties for residents and travelers in mountainous areas.

Babusar Top Receives First Snowfall

Meanwhile, Babusar Top in Diamer received its first snowfall of the season on Saturday.

Despite the snowfall, traffic movement on Babusar Road remained normal. The snowfall came as other parts of Gilgit-Baltistan experienced heavy rain, cloudbursts, flooding, and landslides.

The latest Flash Floods have highlighted the impact of severe weather on communities and infrastructure across the mountainous region.

Residents in affected areas are waiting for damaged roads and essential services to be restored.
