Four Pakistanis Released From India Return Via Wagah Border

Four Pakistanis Released From India Return Via Wagah Border

Four Pakistani citizens have been released from Indian custody and returned to Pakistan. The repatriation took place through coordinated diplomatic efforts and official border procedures.

According to reports, the individuals were handed over by Indian authorities to Pakistan Rangers at the Wagah Border. The returnees include Muhammad Irfan, Aamir Raza, Muhammad Hamza, and Hasnain. After formal handover, they were safely brought back to Pakistan.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts where Pakistanis released from foreign detention are repatriated through official channels. Authorities confirmed that all four men are residents of Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Rahim Yar Khan.

Security sources stated that the individuals were mentally challenged. They had accidentally crossed the border in 2025. This led to their detention in India before the recent release process.

Officials confirmed that the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi played a key role. It worked continuously for the return of the detainees. The commission also stated that it remains committed to securing the release of other Pakistani citizens held abroad.

The development is part of broader diplomatic engagement between the two countries. Both sides regularly exchange prisoner lists under a bilateral agreement.

On January 1, 2026, Pakistan and India exchanged updated records. Pakistan shared details of 266 Pakistani prisoners in India. India, in return, provided information about 462 Indian prisoners held in Pakistan.

This system helps track and manage cases involving detainees on both sides. It also supports efforts to ensure legal and humanitarian processes are followed.

The latest case of Pakistanis released and returned through Wagah has once again drawn attention to cross-border prisoner issues. Officials say continued dialogue is important for resolving such cases.

Authorities on both sides are expected to maintain communication under existing agreements. The focus remains on safe repatriation and legal cooperation.
