The federal government has released the first batch of payments under the PM Fuel Package 2026, digitally distributing Rs1.2 billion to more than 32,000 beneficiaries nationwide. The initiative targets transport operators facing financial pressure due to rising fuel prices, including drivers of buses, trucks, long-haul vehicles, and delivery vans.
According to reports, the payments were transferred through Easypaisa, marking a major shift toward digitized government financial assistance programs. Officials described the system as fast, secure, and transparent, ensuring funds reached eligible beneficiaries directly without delays or middlemen.
Authorities confirmed that Easypaisa is the first digital wallet facilitating transfers to truck operators under the fuel relief initiative. The next phase of the program is expected to expand support to additional groups, including tank lorry operators, buses, and motorcycle riders across Pakistan.
The fuel relief package was introduced to reduce the economic burden caused by increasing fuel prices, which have significantly affected the transportation and logistics sectors. By using digital wallets, the government aims to minimize reliance on cash-based disbursements while improving transparency and efficiency.
Jahanzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Easypaisa Digital Bank, said the platform was honored to partner with the government in delivering timely financial assistance. He added that digital payments help ensure quick access to funds while maintaining accountability in large-scale programs.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that digital payments are a central component of Pakistanโs evolving financial system. She noted that with over 59 million registered users and a wide nationwide agent network, Easypaisa continues supporting financial inclusion and government-to-person payment initiatives.
