LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced early salary and pension payments for Govt Employees and pensioners before the start of August. The decision aims to ensure beneficiaries receive their funds without delays caused by the weekend.
According to the Punjab Finance Department, all Govt Employees will receive their July salaries along with admissible allowances on July 31. Pensioners will also get their monthly pensions on the same date. Normally, these payments follow the regular monthly schedule, but this time they will be released in advance.
The provincial government made this decision because August 1 and August 2 fall on Saturday and Sunday. Banks and most government offices remain closed during the weekend. This could have delayed access to salaries and pensions for thousands of people across Punjab.
Officials said the early payment plan was approved to avoid inconvenience for employees and retired government workers. The move will help beneficiaries manage their financial needs before the weekend begins.
The Finance Department issued formal instructions after receiving approval from the Governor of Punjab. It directed the Accountant General Punjab and all District Accounts Officers to complete the required arrangements for the advance release of salaries and pensions.
The department also instructed all concerned banks to make sure payments are credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on July 31. Banks have been asked to complete all operational and administrative procedures in advance. This will help ensure the payment process remains smooth and free from delays.
The government expects the decision to benefit thousands of Govt Employees and pensioners across the province. Receiving salaries and pensions before the weekend will allow them to access their money without waiting for banks to reopen.
Officials believe the step will reduce financial stress for many families. It will also prevent unnecessary delays caused by the weekend banking closure.
The Punjab government has taken similar measures in the past when payment dates coincided with public holidays or weekends. Such decisions are intended to ensure that government workers and pensioners receive their payments on time.
The Finance Department said all relevant offices and financial institutions have been instructed to coordinate closely. This coordination will help complete the payment process efficiently and ensure funds reach employees and pensioners without interruption.
