Govt Plans Rs. 10 Per Unit Relief for Industries and Farmers

Govt Plans Rs. 10 Per Unit Relief for Industries and Farmers

The federal government has announced a major initiative to reduce electricity costs for the industrial and agricultural sectors. According to officials, the Govt plans Rs. 10 per unit relief for industries and farmers to help ease the financial burden on producers and boost economic growth.

Sources from the Ministry of Energy revealed that the proposal aims to make electricity more affordable for manufacturing units and farmers who have been struggling with high operational expenses. The relief plan is expected to revive industrial activity, enhance exports, and support the agriculture sector amid rising production costs.

Under this proposal, the Govt plans Rs. 10 per unit relief for industries and farmers through a targeted subsidy program. The plan will ensure that the benefit directly reaches small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and agricultural consumers rather than large-scale corporations. The government believes this step will help increase productivity and promote competitiveness in the local market.

Officials stated that the Ministry of Finance and Power Division are currently finalizing the financial mechanism for the relief. Discussions are ongoing with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to ensure that the plan aligns with fiscal guidelines and does not breach budgetary limits.

Industry experts have welcomed the move, saying that lowering electricity tariffs will make Pakistani goods more competitive internationally. Farmers’ associations also praised the initiative, noting that affordable electricity will reduce irrigation costs and improve crop yields.

If approved, the subsidy will be implemented in phases, starting with key industrial zones and major agricultural areas. The Govt plans Rs. 10 per unit relief for industries and farmers as part of a broader strategy to stabilize the economy, encourage investment, and create new jobs.

The final announcement is expected after cabinet approval, with implementation likely to begin in the next fiscal quarter.
