The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning of a heatwave across upper and central Sindh. The alert is valid from April 28 to May 3.
Officials said daytime temperatures may rise 4 to 6 degrees above normal. The conditions are expected to intensify the ongoing heatwave across several districts.
The affected areas include Jamshoro, Dadu, Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur. These regions are likely to experience extreme hot and dry weather.
Authorities warned that the heatwave may create uncomfortable conditions for residents. High humidity levels, reaching up to 60 percent, could make the heat feel more intense than actual readings.
In Karachi, conditions will remain relatively moderate. However, temperatures may still reach up to 36°C until Thursday. Officials clarified that Karachi will not face a severe heatwave, but warm conditions will continue.
Meanwhile, weather conditions in other parts of the country remain mixed. Lahore experienced light to heavy rainfall early Tuesday, bringing temporary relief from heat.
Thunderstorms were also reported in several northern and central regions. These include Gilgit-Baltistan, Gujrat, Lodhran, Vehari, Burewala, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.
In Jahania, rainfall caused a wall collapse that injured three people. Emergency teams responded quickly to the incident.
Flooding was reported in low-lying areas of Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, and Shikarpur due to heavy rain. Ghotki and Ubaro also received light rainfall along with strong winds.
Despite scattered rain, most parts of the country are expected to remain hot and dry. The heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Sindh and surrounding regions.
The meteorological department said isolated rainfall may still occur in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions during the heatwave period. People are urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and limit outdoor activities during peak hours.
Officials continue to monitor the situation as the heatwave persists across southern Pakistan.
