Rain emergency has been declared in Rawalpindi after heavy rainfall affected Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The decision was announced by the Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency, known as WASA.

The WASA chief said all field officers have been mobilised across the city. They have been directed to monitor vulnerable locations and respond to rain-related emergencies.

WASA staff and heavy machinery have also been deployed in low-lying areas.

The teams are working to manage possible water accumulation and reduce the risk of flooding. Officials are also monitoring Nullah Lai as rainfall continues in the region.

According to the WASA managing director, the water level remains within normal limits.

The level was recorded at five feet at Katarrian. It was measured at two feet near the Gawalmandi Bridge.

Authorities said the situation remains under observation due to continued weather activity.

Heavy Rain was reported in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Karak, Mianwali and Dunyapur. Strong winds also accompanied the rainfall in several areas.

Water collected on roads and in some residential neighbourhoods.

This caused difficulties for commuters and local residents. Rainfall was also reported in Jhang, Chashma, Darya Khan and Kacha Gujrat.

Pailan and nearby areas also experienced wet weather.

In Kundian, rainwater entered several houses. Streets and neighbourhoods in the area were also flooded.

Residents faced problems as water accumulated outside homes and on local roads.

The rainfall also affected electricity supplies in several locations.

Some power feeders tripped during the bad weather. The disruption caused inconvenience to residents in affected areas.

Utility teams were expected to work on restoring electricity where faults were reported.

The Rain emergency in Rawalpindi has prompted authorities to keep field teams on alert. Heavy equipment remains available in areas considered vulnerable to flooding.

WASA officials are monitoring drainage points and other sensitive locations.

The agency has also directed its staff to respond quickly if water levels begin rising. Authorities are paying particular attention to low-lying areas.

These locations usually face a higher risk of water accumulation during intense rainfall. For now, the level in Nullah Lai remains within the normal range.

However, officials continue to monitor the situation as weather conditions remain unsettled.

Residents in affected areas are advised to remain cautious around flooded roads and standing water.
