The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning about an upcoming monsoon system expected to bring heavy rains across the country from August 26 to 30, particularly affecting southern regions.
This system, originating from the Bay of Bengal, is expected to enter southern Pakistan, leading to heavy downpours in areas like Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Umerkot, and others in Sindh. The Met Office has predicted torrential rains from August 25 to 29 in these regions.

In Balochistan, intense rainfall is anticipated in Kalat, Lasbela, and Barkhan districts between August 26 and 30, heightening the risk of flash floods and swollen streams. Punjab, including Murree, Islamabad, and Lahore, may also experience rainfall from August 25 to 28, with thunderstorms expected in northern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
The PMD has raised concerns about flooding in low-lying areas of Sindh and Balochistan, urban flooding in central Punjab, and potential landslides in northern K-P and Gilgit-Baltistan due to continuous rainfall. Authorities are advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate the impact on transportation and communication networks.
