Heavy Rain has caused flooding concerns across Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Water levels in Leh Nullah have risen sharply after intense rainfall.
Authorities have issued evacuation instructions for people living near vulnerable sections of the waterway. The water level at the Katarian point crossed 22 feet. Danger sirens were activated in nearby areas following the increase.
Rescue teams have also been placed on high alert. Officials are closely monitoring water levels and conditions across affected areas.
Floodwater Enters Homes in Rawalpindi
Residents living around Leh Nullah have been advised to move to safer locations.
Floodwater has reportedly entered homes in parts of Sadiqabad and Dhok Elahi Bakhsh. The Rawalpindi district administration has also sought assistance from the Pakistan Army, according to sources.
Several important roads have been affected by accumulated water. These include Murree Road and Rawal Road. Traffic movement has been disrupted in affected areas as authorities respond to the situation.
Heavy Rain Recorded Across Twin Cities
Significant Rain was recorded across several locations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours. According to the provided data, The Last Tribe in Islamabad recorded 159.6mm of rainfall.
NUST University received 93.2mm, while G-8/2 recorded 90mm. I-9/2 received 83mm, and D-12 recorded 79.2mm. Islamabad Toll Plaza received 69.6mm, while the OGDC Office recorded 63mm.
In Rawalpindi, Askari-14 Sector-A recorded 54.6mm. Car Chowk received 47mm, while Satellite Town recorded 46.8mm. The heavy downpour has increased concerns about urban flooding and rising water levels.
Flooding Reported in Other Areas
Heavy rainfall in occupied Jammu and nearby upper areas has also affected Nullah Bein near Shakargarh.
Crops across more than a dozen villages have reportedly been submerged.
The Lahore Flood Forecasting Division also reported low-level flooding at Kalabagh and Guddu Barrage on the Indus River. Conditions in other major rivers were reported to remain normal.
More Rain Expected
More Rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected across Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the next two to four hours.
Murree, Galyat and nearby areas could also experience further showers. Heavy rainfall remains possible at isolated locations, according to the provided forecast.
Residents in vulnerable areas should remain cautious and avoid flooded roads or waterways. People living near Leh Nullah should follow evacuation instructions and other directions issued by local authorities.
