The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a Weather Update warning of heavy snowfall in Balochistanโs mountains and rain with hailstorms in Islamabad and Azad Kashmir.
According to PMD, cold weather will persist across most of Balochistan, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to overcast. Areas including Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah are likely to see rain and snowfall at higher altitudes.
Azad Kashmir is also under alert. PMD forecasts significant snowfall in Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Jhelum Valley, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, and Poonch on February 9 and 10. Authorities warned of slippery roads, landslides, and possible road blockages. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised residents to exercise caution during travel.
In Balochistan, rain is expected in Zhob, Musa Khel, Mastung, Kalat, Turbat, Chaghi, Gwadar, and Kharan. Coastal cities will experience milder weather. Quetta recorded a minimum temperature of 0ยฐC, while Kalat and Ziarat dropped to -1ยฐC. Zhob saw 4ยฐC, Turbat 16ยฐC, and coastal regions like Gwadar and Jiwani recorded 13ยฐC and 15ยฐC, respectively.
Authorities have urged people to remain updated on the latest Weather Update and take necessary precautions, especially in high-risk mountainous areas. Travelers are advised to avoid unnecessary journeys, and local administrations are preparing emergency measures to deal with potential road closures and flooding.
