Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission has announced revised salaries for university faculty under the Tenure Track System.
The new salary structure will take effect from July 1, 2026.
Under the revision, professors, associate professors, and assistant professors will receive higher salaries based on their respective pay slabs.
The changes apply to eligible faculty members working under the Tenure Track System, commonly known as TTS.
HEC Revises Salaries for Professors
According to the notification, professors will receive salaries ranging from Rs. 407,220 to Rs. 712,030.
The revised package establishes both minimum and maximum salary levels for professors working under TTS.
Associate professors will receive salaries ranging between Rs. 370,810 and Rs. 645,610. Assistant professors will receive between Rs. 288,020 and Rs. 553,820 under the revised structure.
The exact salary of individual faculty members will depend on their applicable position and pay level.
New Salary Structure Effective From July 2026
The revised salary structure will become effective from July 1, 2026. Faculty members serving under the existing structure until June 30, 2026, will have their salaries adjusted accordingly.
The HEC notification provides updated salary ranges for the three main academic positions covered by the TTS framework.
The revision represents a significant adjustment to compensation for eligible university teachers.
However, the financial responsibility for implementing the new salaries will rest with individual universities.
Universities to Bear Additional Financial Cost
According to the provided information, universities will cover the financial impact from their own resources.
This means the revised salary structure could create additional financial obligations for participating institutions.
Universities with faculty members working under TTS will need to accommodate the revised salaries within their available resources.
The HEC maintains a funding mechanism and policy framework for the Tenure Track System in public-sector universities.
The latest salary revision will operate within this broader framework.
What Is the Tenure Track System?
The Tenure Track System provides a separate career structure for eligible university faculty members.
It is designed to link academic career progression and remuneration with performance. Faculty members working under TTS follow policies and requirements established for the system.
The framework covers academic appointments, career progression, performance standards, and related compensation arrangements.
Public-sector universities participating in the system operate according to the relevant HEC policies.
