The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a fresh duty roster of judges following the end of the summer break. The schedule was approved by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
According to the new roster, nine judges will hear cases in single benches, while five division benches will also operate during the coming week. Some important changes have been made regarding case assignments.
Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan are not included in the single benches. Their pending single bench cases have been shifted to other judges. However, both judges will now sit together as part of a division bench to hear tax-related matters.
One of the most notable updates involves the high-profile Aafia Siddiqui case. Earlier, the matter was under Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan. It has now been moved to Justice Inam Amin Minhas.
This case has already drawn significant attention. Justice Khan had previously issued contempt notices to the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet, instructing them to submit replies by September 1. The transfer to a new judge signals a key shift in how the proceedings may unfold.
The Aafia Siddiqui case remains a matter of great public and political interest in Pakistan. Many view it as a symbol of Pakistanβs legal and diplomatic efforts concerning its citizens abroad. The new judicial assignment will determine how the case progresses in the coming weeks.
Legal experts believe that such transfers are routine under new duty rosters, but the timing of this decision has raised questions. The next hearings will show how Justice Minhas approaches the case compared to his predecessor.
The IHC has confirmed that the updated roster will be in effect immediately. For now, all eyes remain on how the Aafia Siddiqui case develops under its new judge.
