RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has asked his sister Aleema Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to stop public disagreements. The decision aims to ease tensions within the party, according to PTI Senator Ali Zafar.
Senator Zafar briefed reporters outside Adiala Jail after meeting Imran Khan. He said the former prime minister called Gandapur urgently for a meeting. However, he clarified that it was not a reprimand, and no decision had been made to remove the KP chief minister.
Imran Khan instructed both Aleema and Gandapur to refrain from making statements against each other in public. Zafar emphasized that while Gandapur can make administrative decisions, disputes should remain internal to maintain party unity.
The public spat began when Gandapur accused Aleema Khan of supporting vloggers who were allegedly creating divisions within PTI. In a video message, Gandapur claimed Aleema was backing efforts to portray herself as the next party chairperson and even prime minister.
He also mentioned that columnist Hafeezullah Niazi, a relative of Imran Khan, was writing articles presenting Aleema in this role. These developments attracted media attention and fueled speculation about PTIβs internal dynamics.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan has reorganized his team of coordinators for legal support and party meetings. Niazullah Niazi and Intazar Panjutha were relieved of their responsibilities, and a new four-member coordinator team has been appointed.
Additionally, Senator Zafar confirmed that Mahmood Khan Achakzai has been nominated as the acting opposition leader until Omar Ayubβs legal matters are resolved. These steps reflect Imran Khanβs effort to stabilize the party amid ongoing internal controversies.
By addressing the conflict between Aleema Khan and CM Gandapur, Imran Khan aims to ensure party cohesion and prevent public disagreements from affecting PTIβs political strategy.
