Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has been provided with a new collection of books at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. This comes following a directive from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, allowing the jailed leader access to books and meetings with his children.
According to reports, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, handed over the books to the jail authorities. Social media users have shared images of the books, confirming their delivery.
Rizwan Ghilzai posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing the titles and captioned it, “Books have been provided to Imran Khan in jail.”
The books include both historical and Islamic literature. One notable title is On Palestine, co-authored by Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappé, focusing on the Palestinian struggle. Another is The Black Jacobins, covering the Haitian Revolution led by Toussaint L’Ouverture.
Islamic works provided to him include Reopening Muslim Minds by Mustafa Akyol, Lost Islamic History by Firas Alkhateeb, Caliphate by Hugh Kennedy, and The Life of Salah Ud Din Ayyubi by Beha Ud Din. These titles reflect a mix of historical, political, and religious themes.
Imran Khan was first arrested on August 5, 2023, at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, shortly after his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
Initially held at Attock Jail, he is now serving a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence at Adiala Jail. This sentence followed his conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust case on January 17, 2025.
Authorities continue to provide legal and personal accommodations as per court directions. The delivery of books is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that Imran Khan has access to reading material and intellectual engagement during his incarceration.
The incident has drawn attention on social media, with supporters and observers closely monitoring developments related to the former prime minister.
