Imran Khan’s Sister Disputes Government Account of Hospital Transfer

Imran Khan’s Sister Disputes Government Account of Hospital Transfer

Dr Uzma Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has disputed the government’s account of his recent hospital transfer.

She alleged that Khan received only a limited medical examination during the episode. She also claimed officials did not have his medical records with them.

Dr Uzma said the family initially believed Khan was being taken to Shifa International Hospital. However, she later learned that he had been taken to PIMS.

Speaking at a press conference, she described the transfer process as confusing and poorly managed. She said officials refused to properly communicate with the family.

According to Dr Uzma, only Khan’s eyes were examined during the check-up. She said his blood pressure was also measured.

She questioned whether other medical tests were conducted during the process. She also alleged that officials did not provide access to relevant medical files.

Dr Uzma said Khan was eventually taken back to Adiala Jail. His personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan, had also reached the hospital during the episode.

Sultan later provided his own account of the incident. He said he left with another person around 8:15pm or 8:30pm.

He said police picked him up around 12:30am. He added that they had left their phones behind during the journey.

Sultan said they reached Shifa International Hospital after around 30 to 45 minutes. They then waited for several hours for Khan to arrive.

According to Sultan, officials repeatedly said Khan would arrive soon. Around 4:30am, they were told Khan could not reach the hospital.

Sultan then returned to Adiala Jail. He said he later discovered that Dr Uzma was at PIMS.

The conflicting accounts have created further questions about the circumstances surrounding Khan’s transfer. Dr Uzma disputes the official description of the medical process.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar presented a different account of the incident. He said Khan was taken to hospital under appropriate security arrangements.

Tarar said the transfer occurred during the night of August 20 and 21. He linked the move to a Supreme Court decision.

According to Tarar, a team of qualified doctors examined Khan. The team included an eye specialist, cardiologist and physician.

He said the doctors conducted a detailed examination and declared Khan medically fit. Tarar also claimed that Dr Uzma remained present during the examination and treatment.

The minister said Khan returned to Adiala Jail around 5am on August 21.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also criticised the government’s handling of the matter. He alleged that a court order had been violated.

Afridi questioned how authorities could disregard court directions. He said the judiciary must determine whether contempt proceedings were necessary.

He warned that continued non-compliance with court orders could weaken the rule of law. Afridi said such a situation could lead to what he called “jungle law.”

He also rejected claims that PTI workers had taken to the streets. He said the government’s description of the situation was incorrect.

The differing statements have further intensified political tensions surrounding Imran Khan’s custody and health. The government and Khan’s family continue to offer contrasting accounts.

Dr Uzma’s allegations remain disputes that have not been independently resolved. Further clarification may depend on official medical records and judicial proceedings.
