The unusual episode comes after India’s refusal to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi. Following the decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formally informed the ACC of its stance. As a result, the trophy was withdrawn from the stage, leaving the post-match ceremony incomplete.
Mohsin Naqvi stood firm on the matter and instead presented the runner-up cheque to Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha. This marked the first time in tournament history that the winning team left without lifting the trophy.
