Islamabad Declares Holiday on August 13 Ahead of Independence Day

The Islamabad administration has announced a holiday on August 13 to mark Independence Day celebrations and the recent national victory in “Marka-e-Haq.”

According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner, all government offices, educational institutions, and affiliated departments in the federal capital will remain closed on this day.

The holiday is intended to give citizens the opportunity to participate fully in the national festivities and commemorate the year’s achievements.

Pakistan will also observe a public holiday on August 14 for Independence Day, making it a two-day break for residents of Islamabad. This year marks the country’s 79th Independence Day, and preparations are already in full swing nationwide.

In Islamabad, streets and buildings are adorned with green and white lights, while markets are filled with stalls selling flags, buntings, and patriotic apparel.

Similar enthusiasm is visible in other major cities, where residents are preparing for cultural events, parades, and official ceremonies.

Authorities have encouraged the public to join the celebrations while maintaining safety and decorum. Security measures are being put in place to ensure smooth events, with additional personnel deployed at key locations.

The announcement of the August 13 holiday is expected to boost attendance at various programs planned in the capital. Cultural shows, flag hoisting ceremonies, and musical performances are among the highlights.

Independence Day holds deep historical significance for Pakistanis, symbolizing freedom, unity, and national pride. With two consecutive days off, citizens in Islamabad are likely to celebrate the occasion with renewed patriotic zeal.
