Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration have jointly organized the event.
The Parade will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026. Activities are scheduled to begin after 5:00 PM. Entry will be free for the general public. Separate enclosures and seating arrangements have also been planned for families.
Officials said comprehensive security measures will be in place. The arrangements aim to provide visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience.
Police Displays, Concert and Family Entertainment
The Independence Day event will feature several performances and activities at D-Chowk. Various contingents of Islamabad Police will participate in special displays during the celebrations.
A musical concert will also feature popular Pakistani singers. Nimra Mehra and Sahir Ali Bagga are among the announced performers.
Other artists, bands and folk performers are also expected to entertain the audience.
Children will have access to dedicated entertainment activities. These will include a puppet show, mascots and colorful floats. A major fireworks display is also planned as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
CDA Chairman Reviews Preparations
CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf visited D-Chowk ahead of the event. Senior officials accompanied him during the visit. They reviewed preparations and rehearsals for the upcoming Parade.
Speaking to the media, Ashraf recalled the historic importance of D-Chowk for national celebrations. He said national parades were previously held at the venue on March 23. Those events were later discontinued.
According to Ashraf, the tradition is now being revived at D-Chowk. He said the upcoming celebration will be open to everyone.
6,000 Seats Arranged for Visitors
Authorities have arranged around 6,000 seats for members of the public. Ashraf said the venue has enough space to accommodate around 15,000 visitors if needed.
He also said routes leading towards D-Chowk will remain open for people attending the celebrations. Special arrangements have been made to support families and people with disabilities.
Medical teams will establish camps at the venue for emergencies. Wheelchairs will also be available for visitors who require them.
Authorities said separate family seating will help make the event more comfortable for attendees.
The CDA and ICT Administration have invited residents to participate in the celebrations with enthusiasm. Officials expect the Islamabad City Parade to become one of the capital’s major public Independence Day events.
