Passengers using Islamabad’s EXR-16 bus service will need to find alternative boarding and drop-off points following a change announced by the Capital Mass Transit Wing (CMTW).
The transport authority has removed seven designated stops from the route, with the revised arrangements taking effect on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Under the updated schedule, buses operating on the EXR-16 route will no longer pick up or drop off passengers at the affected locations. Regular commuters have been advised to adjust their travel plans to avoid inconvenience.
The seven locations removed from the Islamabad EXR-16 bus route are:
- Fazal-e-Haq Road
- H-8
- Zia Masjid
- Fazaia
- Gangal
- Koral Town
- Pagh Chowk
Passengers who previously relied on these locations will have to use other designated stops when travelling on the service.
The decision could affect daily commuters, including students, office employees and residents who depend on public transport to reach different parts of Islamabad.
Travellers may need to walk farther to reach an available stop or arrange alternative transportation, depending on their starting point and destination.
The revised arrangements became effective on November 2. Passengers are therefore advised to check their regular travel routes before leaving home and allow additional time for their journeys.
The CMTW has requested commuters to cooperate with the updated arrangements and make necessary changes to their daily schedules. The authority has also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the decision.
However, the passenger advisory does not explain why the seven stops were removed. It also does not provide details of replacement locations along the route.
Commuters should check official transport updates or contact the relevant authorities to confirm the nearest available boarding and drop-off points.
